Lori Vallow Daybell Found Guilty of Murdering Children and Husband’s Former Wife!

Lori Vallow Daybell was convicted on May 12 in Idaho of murder and other charges related to the deaths of three people, including two of her children. The case gained widespread attention due to her “doomsday” religious beliefs and the questionable circumstances surrounding her family members’ deaths.

Lori Vallow Daybell, 49, and her husband, Chad Daybell, 54, were indicted by a grand jury and initially pleaded not guilty to the charges involving the deaths of Lori’s children, Tylee Ryan (16) and Joshua Vallow (7). The children’s remains were discovered buried on Chad Daybell’s property in 2020.

She was found guilty of first-degree murder in her children’s deaths, as well as grand theft. Additionally, she was convicted of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in the case of Chad Daybell’s former wife, Tammy Daybell. Chad Daybell has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with Tammy’s death.

Chad Daybell was arrested and charged with concealing evidence, and both he and Lori Vallow Daybell have been in custody since their arrests. The trials for the two defendants were conducted separately.

Her lawyers successfully had the death penalty removed as a potential punishment before her trial began in April. A sentencing date has yet to be determined. Chad Daybell still faces the possibility of the death penalty if convicted.

The case has received significant media coverage and has been adapted into a Lifetime movie titled “Doomsday Mom: The Lori Vallow Story” and a Netflix documentary series called “Sins of Our Mother.”

As for the children, Tylee Ryan and J.J. Vallow were reported missing in November 2019. Police attempted a welfare check and later executed search warrants at Her and Chad Daybell’s residence. The couple showed little concern for the children’s whereabouts.

Lori Vallow Daybell was arrested in Hawaii in February 2020 for obstructing the investigation into the missing children. In June 2020, human remains were discovered buried on Chad Daybell’s property, later confirmed to be those of Lori’s missing children. Chad Daybell was subsequently arrested and charged with concealing evidence.

The couple’s religious beliefs, characterized as “doomsday,” played a significant role in the case. The indictment stated that they used these beliefs to justify the deaths. The attention-grabbing nature of their convictions led to Her being dubbed the “Doomsday Mom.”


Regarding their former spouses, Lori Vallow Daybell’s fourth husband, Charles Vallow, was fatally shot by her brother, Alexander Cox, in July 2019. Alexander Cox, who has since passed away, claimed self-defense, alleging that Charles Vallow had attacked him with a baseball bat. Lori Vallow Daybell is separately charged in Arizona with conspiring to murder Charles Vallow.

Chad Daybell’s previous wife, Tammy Daybell, was found dead in her Idaho home in October 2019. Initially believed to have died of natural causes, her body was exhumed in December due to suspicions surrounding her death and its possible connection to the disappearances of Lori Vallow Daybell’s children. Prosecutors revealed during Lori Vallow Daybell’s trial that Tammy Daybell died from asphyxiation, and Chad Daybell had increased her life insurance coverage a month before her death.

Dozens of witnesses were called during the trial, where prosecutors portrayed Lori Vallow Daybell as a neglectful mother with extreme beliefs. The defense rested its case without calling any witnesses, believing that the state had not proven its case against Lori Vallow Daybell.
