Art will be made on the Okanagan Rail Trail June 12 – Vernon News

Plein Art on the Rail Trail

Art is going to mesh with the Okanagan Rail Trail next weekend.

Opus Kelowna and the Arts Council of the North Okanagan are teaming up for the Rail Trail Plein Air Event, June 12 from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm

Between Kilometer Zero in Coldstream and Lake Country, artists will explore the trail along Kalamalka Lake and seek out a spot to paint for the day.

The event is free and open to all ages and abilities.

Participants will bring their own art supplies in any medium they desire and at the end of the day, artists will gather at the Vernon Community Arts Center in Vernon’s Polson Park next to the Okanagan Science Center to show off their finished, and / or unfinished pieces .

Everyone is welcome to attend the free gathering.

Prizes for those who wish to enter the jurying process will be awarded in three groups: Experienced Artists, Emerging Artists and People’s Choice.

Early registration can be done online or participants can register at the VCAC on the morning of the event, before heading to the trail.

All registrants will receive a detailed information package containing schedule of events, map links, general rules and trail etiquette, and instructions on how to participate in the jurying process.
